“This Grade 2 class was fortunate to have held the torch last year in Gr. 1 and we wanted to do something with those special photos. We had learned a great deal about the Torch Run and decided to try and put together a SAM Animation movie. The students worked in groups to plan the background and movable pieces to go with their text. After a few rehearsals they were ready to take the stop animation photos. Next we edited the timing to fit the planned narration. Adding the children’s voices was the last step. The class was thrilled with their final product but also full of suggestions of potential improvements or ideas for new projects. They love stop animation as a way to demonstrate learning.” Westglen School, Teacher: Linda Hut

We loved to see our movie on TAG and we hope that everyone else will enjoy it too.
WOW!! What an amazing animation piece you have created. I am so impressed with how well you presented the history and the current path of the Olympic torch. I learned some new facts about the torch. I did not know that the flame could be taken on a plane in a lantern!
You should be very proud of your work, grade two! Make sure you say thank you to your amazing teacher, Mrs. Hut, for providing you this fantastic opportunity.

What a wonderful piece of work! Something to be proud of for all time. I learned some great facts that I can now share with friends.
Great Job to all the Grade 2’s and to Mrs. Hut for her hard work.
This is wonderful. I loved the animation and the words. You have really gotten the message of the torch across to your audience.
I loved your feature animation about the torch. Keep up the great work!
Wow! Thanks for sharing. I can’t believe Gr 2 kids made this. It makes me wonder what my son will be able to do with technology by the time he enters school. We leave today for BC and will be at the Olympics next week. This kicked my Olympic spirit into full gear! Thanks again
To the Personal Best Grade 2 class of Westglen,
You are my favorite animators!
Great work!!!
Dear Grade 2s of Westglen Elementary,
We just watched the movie you made about the Olympic Torch relay. We think you put a lot of effort into it and it looked like it was real. The pictures and the drawings were really good and we liked how they moved. We thought the students did a good job of pacing themselves when they spoke into the microphone. Your movie had a lot of facts in it. We liked the ending where the whole class did the credits.
Dear Personal Best Grade 2 students,
The work you did in you SAM animation movie made my jaw drop!!! This is sensational! You reported interesting and accurate information, created fun colourful drawings with captivating animation and excellent narration. You must all be very proud of the result. Thank you for sharing your project and inspiring others. Congratulations!
